We are offering an opportunity for an individual who wishes to work in the exciting world of Healthcare Science.
As the successful candidate you will be an integral part of the Vascular Ultrasound team providing clinical and administrative support to facilitate the day‑to‑day running of the department. You will have a significant impact on patient care and outcomes, assisting clinical vascular scientists in routine and urgent vascular testing, as well as independently performing basic vascular tests.
We are a small, friendly unit working as part of the hub of the Dorset and Wiltshire Vascular network to provide a diagnostic service to 9 vascular consultants. We also support a DVT clinic, acute stroke in‑patient service and TIA clinic.
This is a full time post however part‑time hours will be considered for suitable candidates.

Main duties of the job
The Clinical Vascular Assistant will support the Vascular Ultrasound team in delivering the diagnostic vascular service at Royal Bournemouth Hospital.
You will be working directly with patients, providing care and assistance in the examination rooms as well as performing and reporting basic diagnostic investigations, namely Ankle‑brachial pressure index (ABPI) measurement using hand‑held Doppler.
You will support the vascular service by helping to document clinical data, organising in‑patient scans, dealing with telephone queries, ordering stock and any other associated administrative duties to support the team.
You will also be expected to enter into a weekend working rota. Good communication skills are essential in dealing with the wide range of people you will meet.

Qualifications
* Basic Numeracy & Literacy Skills
* Good IT Skills
* NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care or Equivalent qualification/demonstrable experience as a Radiography Department Assistant
Experience and Knowledge
* Working within a healthcare team
* Experience of hospital/care work.
* Experience of working as an RDA in an X‑Ray and Ultrasound department.
* Evidence of team‑work
* Experience in basic nursing care
Other requirements specific to the role
* Able to communicate with patients and staff
* Able to undertake tasks whilst maintaining patients’ dignity.
* Ability to assist in radiology ultrasound scans
* Ability to coordinate daily workflow to Vascular Ultrasound department
