Job Description
The Senior Sales Manager at Universal Pictures International takes a broad responsibility and wide remit across the sales team and beyond to identify and shape optimal release strategies for each title, whilst continuing to maximise negotiations with their own assigned clients. They are directly involved in overall commercial forecasting, slate management and BO reporting to the wider Universal team along with long term management and guidance of the Sales Manager and Sales Co-Ordinator roles.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Nurture long-lasting and robust trading relationships with own clients whilst cultivating relations across wider exhibition and film business.
2. Have confidence and experience to negotiate ongoing film rental levels where required with key clients.
3. Conduct ongoing internal analysis on film rental and notional value levels for use in external negotiations.
4. Liaise with Sales Director to take commercial decisions with film product that benefit UPI long and short-term goals.
5. Stand in for Sales Director on an ad-hoc basis where required.
6. Ensure regular communication with Heads / Senior Managers across UPI UK & EMEA.
7. Provide proactive support to Sales Director, Finance and MD in running ad-hoc commercial analysis.
8. Ongoing appraisal of film performance within context of wider market and weekly review of slate ambition with MD & Finance team.
9. Feed into slate assessment and positioning conversations when required for potential pick-ups or for early cut material.
10. Territory level reporting for Head Office inc. new release reports and bi-annual market overviews.
11. Maintain a broad understanding of key market developments, technologies and industry issues; stay abreast of competitor initiatives and market / customer trends.
12. Manage Sales roles in team; support their annual PDP and growth within wider NBCU business. Help set sales targets and support them in delivering against these.
13. Liaise with Finance team in Box Office and payment queries relating to the sales team. Manage term assignments and billing requests in absence of Senior Sales Manager.
14. Act as Sales Lead on select Universal releases, liaising with wider UK Theatrical team and cascading key release information back to Sales Team.
Qualifications
15. A flair for sales and the desire to pursue a sales career
16. Experience of working in a film distribution environment
17. Previous experience of management and mentoring
18. Proactive, self–motivated, efficient and organised
19. Proven record of accurate commercial forecasting of films on release
20. Capable of hands on problem-solving, with ability to generate ideas and solutions
21. The ability to create strong client relationships that can survive the rigours of weekly negotiations
22. Good communications skills both written and oral
23. Good interpersonal skills, ability to work within a team
24. Good attention to detail, coupled with accuracy and numeracy skills
25. Enthusiasm and flexibility to cope with ever-changing demands from one release to the next
