Role Overview
As an ESOL Tutor, you will play a crucial role in helping non-native English speakers develop their English language proficiency. You will work with individuals or groups from diverse cultural backgrounds to improve their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in English, from pre-entry level to Level 2. Your primary goal will be to empower learners to communicate effectively and integrate into English-speaking communities, workplaces, and educational settings.
Key Responsibilities and KPIs
1. Design and deliver engaging ESOL sessions tailored to diverse needs and proficiency levels, fostering listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.
2. Create and adapt teaching materials, session plans, and assessments aligned with curriculum goals and learner progress.
3. Provide one-on-one and group support to address specific language challenges and promote active participation.
4. Regularly assess learners' proficiency, track progress, and offer constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
5. Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment that respects cultural differences and promotes cross-cultural understanding.
6. Utilise teaching resources, technology, and multimedia tools to enhance learning experiences.
7. Employ interactive teaching and assessment methods to motivate learners and promote engagement.
8. Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and performance for reporting.

* Significant improvement in learners' language skills and proficiency levels.
* High retention rates and successful outcomes throughout the programme.

Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
Qualifications & Training
* BA in English Language Teaching, Applied Linguistics, Education, or a related field (essential).
* Level 5 teaching, learning, and assessment qualification, e.g., CELTA, Cert Ed, DTLLS, or Diploma in Education and Training.
* GCSE (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
* Full Driving Licence (essential).
* First Aid at Work Certificate (desirable).
* IOSH Health and Safety Qualification (desirable).
Experience
* Proven experience teaching ESOL to diverse groups, preferably in multicultural settings (essential).
* Experience planning, delivering, and assessing adult learning programmes (essential).
* Experience working with displaced or trauma-affected individuals (essential).
Knowledge
* Understanding of cultural differences and creating inclusive environments (essential).
* Familiarity with communicative language teaching, task-based learning, and learner-centred approaches (essential).
* Knowledge of English proficiency frameworks and assessment types (essential).
* Awareness of industry trends, technologies, and curriculum best practices (desirable).
Skills
* Native English proficiency with strong grammar, vocabulary, and communication skills (essential).
* Excellent verbal and written communication, capable of explaining complex concepts (essential).
* Flexibility to adapt teaching methods to different learning styles and levels (essential).
* Strong interpersonal skills and empathy (essential).
* Effective time management and organisational skills (essential).
* Proficiency in educational technology and assessment tools (desirable).
