London Fire Brigade (LFB) is London's fire and rescue service – one of the largest firefighting and rescue organisations in the world. We are here to make London a safer city. Employing over 5000 people across our operational team (our firefighters), control (our call handlers who answer 999 calls), fire safety and our non-operational team (our team who work behind the scenes to support our front-line services, which includes Fleet, IT, HR, Finance, Procurement, Communications team and many more).
This is an exciting time to join the LFB finance team. We have recently implemented SAP4HANA and SAP Ariba, the first public sector organisation to go live with this cloud-based system.
The post-holder will be a strong technical accountant, responsible for overseeing our AP/AR teams as well as helping to ensure the proper administration of the LFC's financial affairs, by delivering high quality financial services. The post holder will assist the Principle Technical Accountant in the preparation of Tax returns and final accounts, a critical contribution to the efficient, effective and economic achievement of the Brigade's vision. This will embrace the strategic, regulatory, statutory and stewardship responsibilities which are fundamental to the operation of the LFC.
The successful candidate will:
* Have recent, demonstrable experience managing a finance team within a large, complex organisation
* Have significant financial accounting experience within a public sector or similar organisation
* Demonstrate strong communication and inter-personal skills, with the ability to collaborate, influence and communicate effectively with staff across all levels and functions
* Have a thorough understanding of end-to-end Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables processes
* Be comfortable using accounting systems and a range of IT applications (e.g Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, accountancy packages and reporting tools). SAP 4/HANA public cloud experience would be beneficial.

Eligibility
Applicants must have a recognised CCAB or CIMA accountancy qualification/finalist or part qualified with relevant experience.
Assessment Overview
Stage 1

4. Evidence of strong analysis, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to define problems, identify and recommend solutions and prioritise tasks under pressure.
