About the Role and Key Responsibilities
As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant working with TailorEDucation, you will play a vital role in supporting a pupil with a high level of Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs within a school in the Tonbridge area.
This is a long-term supply booking, working five days per week, providing consistent and dedicated support to ensure stability and continuity for the pupil.
The role involves providing 1:1 support to help the child access learning, regulate emotions, and develop positive relationships within the classroom environment. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider support staff to implement personalised strategies, behaviour support plans, and interventions tailored to the pupil’s individual needs.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day
• Supporting emotional regulation and promoting positive behaviour strategies
• Assisting with differentiated learning activities to ensure access to the curriculum
• Building a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil
• Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
• Promoting inclusion, wellbeing, and engagement in learning

The Ideal Candidate Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs
• Experience in a school or educational setting (preferred)
• A strong understanding of behaviour management strategies and emotional regulation support
• The ability to remain calm, patient, and consistent in challenging situations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
• Availability to commit to a long-term, full-time role (five days per week)
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the wellbeing of children
Relevant qualifications in SEND, Childcare, Psychology, or Youth Work would be advantageous but are not essential.
