Special Teaching Assistant (STA) – Championing Inclusive Learning
Become a valued member of our team as a Special Teaching Assistant (STA), where you’ll play a pivotal role in supporting children and young people with communication and interaction challenges. This position focuses on nurturing self-esteem, confidence, and independence, helping students become active contributors to their communities.
Main Duties:
1. Classroom Support: Assist with lesson planning and preparation, including the creation of engaging resources and classroom displays to inspire learning.
2. Student Engagement: Collaborate closely with teachers to deliver lessons, offering targeted assistance in literacy, numeracy, and other key subjects. You’ll also supervise small student groups as required.
3. Progress Tracking: Keep precise records of student needs and achievements, providing valuable input to assessments through observation and constructive feedback.
4. Individual Support: Offer personalised assistance to meet the unique needs of each student, including personal care duties where appropriate.
5. Positive Relationships & School Values: Develop supportive, respectful connections with students and embody the school’s core values in your daily interactions.
6. Social Development: Facilitate and take part in lunchtime activities that help students improve social skills and build resilience during less structured times.
7. Safety & Supervision: Oversee student safety during breaks and transitions throughout the school day, and assist with first aid when required.
What We’re Looking For:
1. Prior experience working with children or young people, especially in SEND environments.
2. Strong empathy, patience, and communication skills to engage meaningfully with students.
3. A passion for inclusive education and dedication to fostering self-respect, confidence, and independence.
4. A valid driving licence is essential.
