Cabinet Support Officer
Location: Crawley, West Sussex
Working pattern: Monday to Friday
Duration: ongoing
Pay: £22.83 per hour PAYE
We are seeking a driven, ambitious, and politically astute Cabinet Support Officer to join the Leader’s Office in a dynamic and progressive local authority in Crawley. This pivotal role supports the Leader of the Council, Cabinet, The Chief Executive, and the Senior Leadership Team.
Key responsibilities:
* Provide policy, research, and administrative support to Cabinet Members to enable effective delivery of priorities.
* Manage various policy areas, including social care, education, town centres, and support for families with the cost of living.
* Build and maintain strong relationships across the organisation and with external stakeholders.
* Manage Cabinet Members' inboxes and diaries, handle casework, emails, and meetings efficiently.
* Conduct research, draft briefings, and summarise information for Cabinet Members.
* Coordinate Cabinet Member meetings, including planning agendas, minute-taking, action logging, and venue arrangements.
This role operates in a fast-paced environment, requiring excellent communication and operational skills to support the Council’s goals for a safer, stronger, and kinder borough.
Skills and experience:
* Experience providing high-quality briefing, diary management, and administrative support to senior stakeholders.
* Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
* Experience in minute-taking and action tracking for meetings.
* Excellent judgment, political awareness, and discretion.
* Ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders.
* Knowledge of local government structures and policies.
* Highly organised with the ability to prioritise in a fast-moving environment.

You will also support Lead Members and contribute to the Leader’s Office, including attending public events and meetings outside regular hours.
