The post holder will be a fully experienced General Practitioner who will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide services out of hours to meet the urgent healthcare needs of people residing in the Hull and East Riding area.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the highest standard of clinical care is provided for patients across the service, including initiating clinical assessment, telephone triage, diagnosis, treatment, and referral for patients presenting with undifferentiated and undiagnosed conditions.
Responsibilities
* Support the provision of medical clinical input into the development of the Out of Hours Service.
* Contribute to the development and dissemination of best practice.
* Work closely with all other support services in the provision of urgent care services including Emergency Care Practitioners, 999 services, A&E, District Nurses, Palliative Care/MacMillan Nurses, Intermediate Care, Community Wards, Social Services and Mental Health Services.
* Provide clinical support to Healthcare Professionals as and when required.
* Undertake telephone triage, consultations within the primary care centre and home visits.
* Ensure accurate notes of all patient consultations and treatments are recorded and appropriate communication is made with patients.
* Promote joint working across a range of secondary, primary, community and emergency services.
* Participate in active audit of the service working closely with the Clinical Advisor.
* Work flexibly in the provision of clinical support across the Hull and East Riding area.
* Provide clinical support and cover for other Primary Care Centres as required to meet the needs of the service.
* Comply with CHCP Clinical Governance Standards and the Policies and Procedures of the PCT.
* Attend relevant meetings when required.
* Work with the Clinical Advisor and Service Manager to set and review own objectives for training, personal and professional development.
* Participate in annual appraisals.
* Adhere to NHS Complaints Procedures where necessary.
* Professional disciplinary matters may be referred directly to the GMC.
* Take an active role as shift lead where needed on duty.
Qualifications
Doctors must have full GMC registration, a professional medical qualification, a Certificate of prescribed or equivalent experience (JCTGP) and/or a Certificate of Completion of Training, and a commitment to ongoing professional development. Medical indemnity will be provided for all contracted bank staff (does not include Provider to Provider contracts).
