Role: IT Specialist (12 Month FTC)
Salary: £33,000 - £38,000
Location: Basildon (5 days on site)
A UK-based organisation is seeking an IT Specialist to support its day-to-day IT operations and local technology environment. The role provides hands-on 1st and 2nd line support, ownership of incidents and service requests, and involvement in local IT initiatives and improvement activity.
Based 5 days per week on site in Basildon, the position supports primarily local users with some wider UK coverage as required. It offers exposure to a varied Microsoft-based environment spanning end-user support, infrastructure, security processes, and project work.
The role is initially offered on a 12-month fixed-term basis, with a strong opportunity to go permanent for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
Providing remote and onsite 1st and 2nd line IT support to internal users
Owning incidents and service requests through to resolution, meeting agreed SLAs
Acting as a point of escalation for IT issues and supporting service recovery
Supporting local infrastructure, servers, networks, and endpoint environments
Managing users, groups, permissions, and devices across Microsoft-based platforms
Building, configuring, and deploying hardware and software
Supporting backup monitoring, endpoint security, and proactive estate monitoring
Maintaining accurate IT asset records and technical documentation
Assisting with IT projects, system improvements, and new technology deployments
Working in line with ITIL practices, security policies, and quality standards
Background and Experience:
Proven experience delivering 1st and 2nd line IT support
Strong working knowledge of Windows desktop and server operating systems
Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and associated cloud services
Good understanding of networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, VPNs, firewalls)
Experience managing users and permissions within Active Directory and Azure environments
Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of service performance
Strong customer-focused mindset with clear verbal and written communication skills
Experience working within structured or compliant IT environments
Willingness to travel to other UK sites as required
Full UK driving licence
