A forward‑thinking London local authority is seeking an experiencedmercial Asset Manager to join its Strategic Property team. The Council ismitted to delivering high‑quality services, strengthening financial resilience, and maximising value from a diversemercial property portfolio.
Your new role
As amercial Asset Manager, you will be responsible for optimising the performance of the Council’smercial estate, which includes retail, office, industrial and mixed‑use properties. You will drive ie generation, ensure effective landlord management, and support long‑term strategic planning.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage a variedmercial property portfolio to maximise ie and asset value
2. Lead rent reviews, lease renewals, re-gears, acquisitions and disposals
3. Identifymercial opportunities and development potential across the estate
4. Provide professional property advice to senior officers and members
5. Work closely with finance, legal, regeneration and planning teams on corporate priorities.
6. Oversee external consultants, agents and contractors
7. Ensurepliance with statutory responsibilities and asset management best practice
8. Contribute to the development and delivery of the Council’s Asset Management Strategy
What you'll need to succeed
9. Strongmercial property/asset management experience
10. Proven track record in ie generation and effective lease management
11. Excellent negotiation, analytical and financial skills
12. Strong working knowledge of landlord & tenant law and valuation principles
13. Ability to work collaboratively in aplex public‑sector environment
14. MRICS (or equivalent) is desirable, or significant experience at an equivalent level.
