Transport Manager / Planner
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Planner/Transport Manager to oversee and optimise a fleet of 17 HGV vehicles. The successful candidate will ensure full legal and environmental compliance, manage driver schedules, and coordinate daily deliveries and collections efficiently.
This position is ideal for candidates with experience in transport planning within aggregates, construction, or waste management, who hold a CPC qualification and have a strong track record in fleet and driver management.
Key Responsibilities

Ensure the fleet is compliant and roadworthy, meeting all legal and environmental requirements.

Schedule and monitor vehicle maintenance in line with manufacturers’ guidance.

Plan daily deliveries and collections to meet operational and customer requirements.
*
Manage drivers’ schedules, working hours, and licence compliance to prevent violations.
*
Process orders and maintain accurate records in the delivery/collection system.
*
Handle customer enquiries professionally via phone and email.
*
Prepare reports and presentations highlighting operational performance and recommendations for improvement.
*
Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure efficient and sustainable transport operations.
Skills & Experience
*
CPC qualification is essential.

Experience managing HGV fleets and drivers.

Knowledge of environmental and transport regulations.

Strong organisation, planning, and multitasking skills.

Excellent communication and report writing abilities.

Familiarity with transport management systems and operational documentation.
