We are now on the lookout for a Senior Estimator to work out of our Chesterfield office. The main purpose of this role is to deal with the preparation, processing and submission of tenders for contracts by calculating the costs involved in supplying a product or service that meets the client’s technical specification.
A full UK driving licence is essential. There will be the occasional need to attend meetings and reviews at head office in Ipswich where the rest of the team will be based.
Other Main Duties Include
* Manage and coordinate information for bids and tenders within designated area
* Research materials, equipment and labour costs
* Gain and understanding of client’s needs
* Collect quotes from suppliers and sub-contractors
* Plan job timescales
* Assess and advise on commercial risk
* Prepare and submit quotations for work
* Help with bids for new contracts and support buying activities
* Monitor the stages of a project to keep costs in line with forecasts
* Clearly convey the financial elements of a tender to site staff at tender handover
* Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and company procedures
* Involve in review/input to quality submissions
Are you the person we are looking for?
We are seeking a self‑motivated individual with excellent communication and presentation skills, strong commercial awareness, problem‑solving skills, strong numerical and analytical skills, and a keen attention to detail.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in estimating in civil engineering, with experience of projects of a similar nature that include highways, earthworks, and infrastructure. Sound knowledge of spreadsheets and estimating packages is required.
