Rochdale Additional Needs Service is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled, and dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant (TA4) for a permanent 32.5 hours during term time only (Grade 6), starting on 3rd September 2025. The position is based at Matthew Moss Hearing Impaired Resourced Base.
At Matthew Moss Hearing Impaired Resourced Base (HIRB), we aim to meet the needs of each student and seek a passionate teaching assistant with experience in supporting children & young people with special educational needs and hearing impairments in a secondary school setting.
If you are passionate about learning and committed to achieving high outcomes for hearing-impaired children & young people, we invite you to join our innovative team dedicated to raising student achievement. You should have recent substantial experience working with children & young people with SEN and supporting school staff in inclusive practices, promoting independence for children & young people with hearing impairments or SEN.
About you

Candidates should possess:

* Teaching Assistant NVQ Level 3 or equivalent
* A qualification in sign language (CACDP stage 1 or OCSL level 1 or higher)
A positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills are essential. Flexibility and a proactive approach to meeting individual needs are vital to ensure positive outcomes for all children & young people.
About us
To apply, please demonstrate how you meet the essential requirements of the person specification. When completing your application, use the person specification criteria as headings and provide specific examples. Also, include your relevant qualifications as specified.
As part of the selection process, you will be asked to give a 10-minute presentation on:
‘What are the barriers to learning for deaf children & young people and what strategies would you use to remove them?’
If you wish to discuss the role further, please contact Elizabeth Croshaw at 01706 926479.
The closing date for applications is 12 pm on Monday, 19th May 2025.
Interviews will be held at Number 1 Riverside on 13th June 2025.
