Job Summary
Are you an experienced NHS leader ready to shape the future of adult community nursing services? Kent Community Health NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dynamic Head of Service to lead our Adults Long Term Services across ten Primary Care Network areas in West Kent.
This pivotal role offers the opportunity to drive strategic service development, ensure high‑quality care delivery and champion clinical excellence. You will work closely with the Assistant Director to define service strategy, oversee performance and empower teams to deliver transformative care. As part of our senior leadership team you will collaborate with partners across health and social care including Primary Care, Acute Trusts, Hospices and Social Services.
Working pattern: 30 hours per week over 4 days Monday to Friday, plus on‑call rota covering weekends and out of hours. Location: Coxheath Clinic, Coxheath, ME17 4AH. Band: 8b. Key Responsibilities
* Provide operational and strategic leadership of Community Nursing services.
* Manage performance, quality, workforce planning and financial control to meet national standards.
* Lead service transformation and manage Operational Managers.
* Oversee clinical governance and drive quality improvement.
* Analyse complex data, develop strategic plans and represent the locality at performance meetings.
* Contribute to policy development, manage budgets and support staff development.
* Deputise for the Assistant Director and help shape the future of community care in Kent.
Key Qualifications
* Essential: Registered Healthcare Professional / Registered nurse; proof of management qualification or relevant experience.
* Desirable: Master’s degree or equivalent experience in management and leadership.
* Experience: Minimum 3 years at senior NHS management level, including budgeting, staff leadership, clinical governance, patient safety, and change management.
* Evidence of applying national policy, strategic planning, and partnership working across health and social care.
* Experience of remodelling or restructuring NHS services.
* Knowledge: Broad understanding of local, regional and national policy; patient safety, quality improvement and clinical governance; citizen engagement and drivers for quality.
* Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, influencing, time‑management, delegation, prioritisation and conflict resolution.
* Personal attributes: Ability to resolve complex issues, cultural competence, emotional intelligence, commitment to high‑quality patient care and a valid driving licence.
