Lead Teignbridge's Story as Our Communications & Marketing Manager
Are you an inspiring communicator with a passion for shaping narratives that matter? We're looking for an experienced Communications and Marketing Manager to lead our ambitious and community‑focused Strategy and Partnerships service.
This is an exciting time for Teignbridge; there's a huge amount happening across our organisation and our communities, and we need a strategic leader who can see the big picture while driving high‑quality, day‑to‑day delivery. You'll join a dynamic, supportive and proactive team that values creativity, fresh thinking and collaboration, working together to promote our vision, mission and values.
We do things well and keep developing.
In this high‑impact managerial role, you'll be at the heart of sharing the positive work we do for our residents, partners and stakeholders, shaping a strong, consistent and engaging identity for Teignbridge. You'll provide strategic communications leadership, guide and develop a talented communications team, oversee our brand and messaging across multiple channels, advise senior leaders, and represent us in regional and national networks. The role involves:
Leading and developing the Council's Communications Team, ensuring high‑quality, creative and proactive communications across all channels.
Shaping and promoting Teignbridge's brand, reputation and corporate identity through effective media, marketing and engagement activity.
Providing strategic communications advice to senior leaders and manage responses to key issues, risks and crises.
Planning, delivering and evaluating the annual communications programme, ensuring campaigns and activity align with corporate goals.
With a great deal happening across the district, you'll play a pivotal role in telling our story and creating a confident, positive image for our community. If you're an experienced manager who thrives in a fast‑moving environment and wants to make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Strong strategic communications leadership, with the ability to oversee multi‑channel activity, manage complex workloads and guide a high‑performing communications team.
Excellent managerial judgement, diplomacy and relationship‑building skills, with the confidence to brief, influence and advise senior leaders and political representatives at a strategic level.
A high‑level understanding of local government or large‑organisation communications, with expertise in media and reputational management and the ability to interpret and communicate complex issues clearly and authoritatively.
Creative, forward‑thinking leadership combined with resilience and a positive, can‑do attitude, ensuring high‑quality service delivery and continuous improvement across the team.
A strong commitment to equality, diversity and human rights, along with the flexibility and professionalism needed to respond to sensitive issues and fast‑moving situations.
We're better together.
You will enjoy working together as part of a team to deliver on our vision of making Teignbridge a healthy and desirable place where people want to live, work and visit.
