Position Summary
The primary role of the workshop technician is to carry out maintenance and refurbishment activities on ROV systems, associated tooling packages and/or Survey systems equipment in the Aberdeen workshop.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Carry out maintenance (mobilisation, demobilisation, calibration, periodic and in‑storage) and refurbishment activities on company and customer‑owned equipment.
* Perform preparation, mobilisation and demobilisation of ROV systems, associated tooling packages and/or Survey systems equipment.
* Ensure that all work conforms to company operating and maintenance standards and to all current legislation.
* Update equipment maintenance systems to record details of all repairs and maintenance of company‑owned equipment.
* Participate in daily toolbox talks for the workshop group.
* Participate in the observation system and conduct STOP audits on a regular basis.
* Participate in safety training courses and initiatives.
* Ensure that all tasks are performed using correct procedures.
* Ensure compliance with HSE requirements prior to starting and during operations (COSHH, HAVS, PUWER and LOLER).
* Participate in the creation of Risk Assessments and JSEA.
* Participate in QHSE initiatives such as continuous improvement implementation and monitoring.
* Adopt and promote 6S and lean principles.
* Assist with any other duties as and when required.
Non‑essential
* Participate in the company competence scheme to allow progression through the company career framework.
* If required, travel overseas and to offshore locations to provide onsite technical support.
* If required, attend project kick‑off meetings to provide technical support.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
* City Guilds, SVQ level 3 in Mechanical and/or Hydraulic Engineering.
* Working knowledge of subsea equipment, including, but not limited to, ROV systems, ROV tooling and Survey systems equipment.
* Demonstratable awareness of 6S and lean principles.
* Extensive experience working with pressure (pressure testing, hydro‑ and pneumatic/function testing).
* Working‑at‑height experience.
* Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
* Overhead crane certification.
DESIRED
* HNC/HND in Mechanical and/or Hydraulic Engineering.
* City and Guilds – Pressure Testing SCQF level 6.
* Knowledge of subsea XT controls and operations.
* Knowledge of manifold, umbilical and subsea XT installation operations.
* 6S Champion.
* Forklift truck certification.

Additional Information
Working Conditions
* The employee may work indoors or outdoors during the day and occasionally at night. Climatic and environmental conditions may include varied noise levels caused by tools, machinery and equipment. Offshore environments where vessel movements may have an effect are also possible.
* The employee will be required to wear PPE at all times.
Physical Activity/Requirements
* The employee is required to stand, walk, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lb and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lb. Specific vision and hearing abilities required by this job include close‑vision focus and full hearing range.
* This position is considered medium work.
* Lift up to 50 lb; climbing, stooping, kneeling, squatting and reaching; lift up to 25 lb; standing; repetitive movements of arms and hands.
