2 nights from 7pm to 7am
4 days off
This is a continuous pattern and includes weekends plus public holidays.
Purpose & Main Requirements
To produce metals / alloys against customers’ orders utilising equipment within the manufacturing facility. Maintain traceability to ensure product quality. Maintain a clean operating environment and assist in ensuring equipment is kept in good condition.
Preference will be given to candidates with extensive experience of working in a foundry environment or who have other experience of handling molten metals. Most importantly successful candidates must have an excellent appreciation of the importance of working to the utmost standards of Quality, Environmental, Health and Safety stewardship.
Candidates must have good communication skills. The ability to comprehend and adhere to operating instructions, both written and verbal, is essential.
The role includes working in an electrolytic rare earth metal production facility. Full training in all aspects of operating electrolytic metal making cells will be given
Operation of electrolytic cells is a continuous process and will therefore require staff to work to a “continental” shift pattern (see below) to provide full 24 hour cover for 7 days a week.
Principal Accountabilities
1. Operate plant and equipment to achieve targeted levels of production in accordance with good operational practice. This will include following Standard Operating Procedures where appropriate. Maintain relevant production log to include all required processing data.
2. To operate electrolytic rare earth metal production cells in accordance with the Operating Instructions defined by the company. This will include all aspects of the production process, including charging and starting cells, maintaining and tapping cells and closing down and rebuilding cells at the end of a production cycle.
3. To closely monitor the cells during operation and accurately record process data.
4. Maintain a clean and tidy environment to minimise risk of product contamination. Follow a ‘Leave the area as you found it’ policy, thus allowing spilled materials to be collected and used in the process. Full utilisation of raw materials is essential in maximising yields and ensuring product quality.
5. Ensure all materials within the production areas are clearly identified; full material traceability is required throughout all the LCM manufacturing facility.
6. Ensure that finished product is packaged neatly and labelled correctly regarding material type and customers order where appropriate.
7. Maintain awareness of raw material quality and report any potential material problems to the Production Superintendent and or Team Leader as soon as concern arises.
8. Provide analysis samples of metals / alloys to the Laboratory as required.
9. Notify any potential equipment problems / failures to a member of the Maintenance Committee and to the Production Superintendent and or Team Leader as soon as concern arises.
10. Maintain awareness of the levels of production related consumables. Report any low stock levels to the Production Superintendent and or Team Leader.
11. Carry out general maintenance checks as and when required.
12. Must be aware of and comply with the Group’s Health & Safety Policy. This will include the use of protective equipment and clothing when required.
13. Must be aware of and comply with the requirements of the Company’s Quality Policy, where appropriate.
14. To support and promote the Environmental Management System of LCM and contribute to the environmental awareness in the organization.
15. Undertake other activities as required by the Production Supervisor.
16. Good numerical skills required for the position.
