Job Description
The Environment Agency is fully committed to having an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We don't just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it, and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities, and our environment.
This is an opportunity to use your analytical skills to support environmental cleanup and advance circular economy goals through a new Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) for plastic bottles and cans. The scheme aims to reduce waste and promote recycling, marking a significant step toward ending the throwaway society in Britain.
You will lead data analytics efforts to support the implementation and development of the DRS regime. Your work will ensure data collected is robust, accurate, and effectively used to assess fraud, monitor compliance, and inform policy decisions.
By harnessing data, you can help streamline collection processes, reduce waste, and turn discarded items into valuable resources. You will collaborate with colleagues across the Environment Agency, Defra, devolved administrations, and industry stakeholders to translate policy into operational systems. Your role will involve analyzing data to develop dashboards, reports, and models to support enforcement and monitoring of the scheme, including:
* Collaborating with policy, digital, and regulatory teams to shape the DRS digital infrastructure and ensure data quality.
* Providing expert analytical insights to inform decision-making across the Environment Agency and government partners.
* Helping define and improve data governance and reporting standards for the scheme.
You will also develop a solid understanding of the DRS regime and explore other producer responsibility regimes.
