Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and versatile Sales Assistant and Warehouse Operative to join our team. This role involves supporting sales activities while efficiently managing warehouse operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for stock management, materials handling, and ensuring smooth logistics processes, contributing to the overall success of our business. Experience with warehouse management systems and mechanical knowledge will be advantageous.
Duties
* Assisting customers in-store with product enquiries and sales transactions
* Managing stock levels through regular stocking, picking, and packing of goods
* Loading and unloading lorries using appropriate equipment such as forklifts
* Operating warehouse management systems (e.g., AS400) to track inventory and orders
* Handling materials safely and efficiently, including heavy lifting where necessary
* Preparing shipments for dispatch, including shipping and receiving procedures
* Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe warehouse environment
* Ensuring accurate documentation of all stock movements and transactions
Requirements
* Previous experience in warehouse operations or similar roles is preferred
* Valid forklift licence or experience operating forklifts is highly desirable
* Mechanical knowledge or experience in plumbing & heating can be beneficial
* Ability to handle heavy loads safely and effectively during materials handling tasks
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in stock management
* Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
* Willingness to undertake training related to warehouse procedures and safety protocols
