Job Description:
Assistant General Manager | Full Time
At Wagamama, we’re an eating house for the soul. With over 160 UK restaurants and growing, our purpose is to nourish the world from bowl to soul. Inspired by fast-paced Japanese ramen bars since 1992, Wagamama celebrates Asian food and culture.
We’re looking for an Assistant General Manager to join us on our journey of true nourishment.
The Role:
As an Assistant General Manager, you'll be an integral part of the restaurant leadership team, supporting the General Manager in leading the restaurant in the Wagamama way. You’ll embody our values, inspire and motivate your team to deliver exceptional service, and strive to exceed expectations. A passion for people, food, and hospitality, along with a drive to make positive change, are essential.
Benefits include:
* A competitive salary, £3000 bonus opportunity per year, and an average of £140 tips per week.
* Access up to 30% of your earnings before payday with Wagestream.
* Dedicated 6-week training program.
* £14-£25 free Wagamama food allowance on every shift.
* 50% discount at Wagamama and 30% off all other TRG brands for family and friends.
* Internal progression opportunities towards becoming a general manager.
* Kintsugi Wellness: access to counselors, cycle-to-work scheme, discounted gym and leisure activities.
* Family-friendly policies: 26 weeks full pay and 13 weeks half pay for expectant or adopting parents.
* Financial wellbeing support, including salary-repaid loans for urgent needs.
What We Look For:
* An experienced hospitality manager capable of leading a team with positive behavior and driving performance in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent communication skills, able to have meaningful conversations and support your team.
* Understanding of restaurant financial performance and ability to identify opportunities.
* Ability to manage budgets and labor costs.
* A passionate leader who invests in team development and performance.
* Inspiring and engaging leadership to foster growth and nourishment in roles and careers.
* Problem-solving skills, quick decision-making, and adaptability.
The Wagamama Way:
Kaizen, meaning ‘good change’, is our core philosophy. It influences everything we do—from our food to our work culture—and emphasizes continuous improvement, sustainability, and community engagement.
We celebrate difference, value personality over perfection, and foster a welcoming environment where everyone’s unique story is appreciated. We promise to support each other and create safe spaces for honest conversations.
Join us and dish up what makes you different.
Be you, be Wagamama.
