Rate of Pay: £27.96 - £36.12 per hour
Summary:
Shropshire Council is seeking an experienced Developing Highways Support Officer to support the management and delivery of Section 38 and Section 278 agreements under the Highways Act 1980. The role will focus on processing highway adoption agreements, reviewing technical submissions, maintaining agreement records, and working with developers, consultants, legal teams, and highways professionals to facilitate development while protecting the Council's highway interests.
Responsibilities:
* Process and oversee applications relating to Section 38 and Section 278 agreements under the Highways Act 1980.
* Review and assess technical highway designs submitted by developers and third parties.
* Maintain and manage records relating to Section 38 and Section 278 agreements, including bonds, certificates, inspections, and legal documentation.
* Prepare legal instructions and support the drafting of highway agreements.
* Monitor the progress of legal agreements and ensure agreements are in place before works commence on site.
Qualifications:
* Relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Highways Engineering, Transportation, Construction, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Essentials:
* Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle.
* Experience working with Section 38 and/or Section 278 agreements.
* Knowledge of the Highways Act 1980 and highway adoption processes.
* Experience reviewing technical highway drawings and development proposals.
* Experience working within a Local Highway Authority, consultancy, or similar highways environment.
