Overview
As a Home Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for delivering groceries to customers’ doorsteps in a 3.5 tonne van, ensuring on-time delivery and the condition of goods. You will also help in-store as needed and be the face of our service, eager to assist customers and provide a great doorstep experience.
Responsibilities
* Drive a 3.5 tonne van to deliver groceries to customers’ doorsteps, on-time and in good condition
* Perform checks to ensure the van is clean, organised and roadworthy, and that delivery cases are secure before driving in a variety of locations and conditions
* Engage with customers to answer questions, handle substitutions, and communicate any delays
* Build knowledge about products, services and promotions to provide recommendations
* When not delivering, assist across the store as needed
* Complete an online driving risk assessment as part of the interview process, and complete a driving assessment upon joining if successful
* You must have Right to Work eligibility in the UK
Requirements
* Must be over 18 and hold a full UK/EU driving licence for at least 12 months with no more than 6 points
* All shifts include at least one weekday and one weekend day
* Shifts vary in length from 4 to 9 hours, with an average of 6–8 hours
* Shifts start from 06:00 and finish by 23:00, with a mix of times including afternoons/evenings
Skills and attributes
* Friendly and welcoming with genuine enthusiasm for helping customers and providing the best doorstep experience
* Proficient at driving a large vehicle in varied locations, from busy streets to narrow country lanes, and delivering to diverse residential properties
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physical environment, using initiative to solve problems, both independently and as part of a team
* Willing to work flexibly and be fully trained across a variety of skills to learn, develop and try new things
* Comfortable learning to use new digital tools and technology to perform the role, including handling physical goods up to 15 kg
