Manufacturing Manager (Shift-Based) Location: Shift Pattern: 3 on, 3 off - Nights Reporting to: Factory Manager About the Role We're looking for a confident, people-focused Manufacturing Manager to lead one of our production shifts in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This role is all about ownership. You'll have end-to-end responsibility for your shift - leading teams from raw material intake, mixing and baking, through to packing and dispatch. With several production lines and process areas under your control, you'll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality products while hitting performance targets. You won't be doing this alone. You'll work closely with three other Manufacturing Managers and a range of support teams, sharing best practice and driving continuous improvement across the factory. What You'll Be Doing Leading People Be the senior leader on shift, setting the standard for safety, quality, and performance Build a strong "Safety First" culture, acting as Fire Marshal and leading behavioural safety activity Coach, develop and engage your team through regular feedback, PDRs, and training Support recruitment, manage holidays and absence, and plan labour effectively Handle performance, discipline, and grievance matters fairly and professionally Develop talent and succession plans to build strong teams for the future Running the Operation Deliver and exceed shift targets for output, OEE, waste, labour and material costs Lead shift handovers and reviews, identifying issues and putting clear actions in place Make sure all SAP and production reporting is completed accurately on shift Embed lean manufacturing and CI tools, encouraging team involvement and ownership Lead improvement projects that make a real difference on the shop floor Be the escalation point for operational challenges, including weekend support Quality, Technical & NPD Ensure full compliance with food safety, hygiene, HACCP, GMP and quality standards Maintain audit readiness and host audits or visits during your shift Support new product trials, launches, and process improvements What We're Looking For You don't need to tick every box - attitude, leadership and willingness to learn matter just as much. You'll ideally have: Experience leading a shift or department in a food manufacturing environment A proven ability to improve performance through engaged, motivated teams Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement Strong communication skills and confidence making decisions in a fast-moving setting A collaborative mindset and the ability to work cross-functionally Qualifications (preferred but not essential): IOSH Level 3 Food Safety Level 3 HACCP CI Yellow Belt (Support will be provided to gain these if you don't already have them.)
