About the Role
A great opportunity to be working with older people in mental health as a Health Care Assistant on Wold View Ward at Foss Park Hospital. Wold View is an 18‑bed mixed sex assessment and treatment ward for older people with organic mental health needs. The ward actively encourages development and training opportunities and supports the delivery of patient‑centred care, support for carers and evidence‑based practice, working in a whole‑systems approach with partner agencies. Our aim is to improve the lives of older people with mental ill‑health by minimising the impact of their condition through the delivery of excellent services that promote recovery and well‑being.
Key Responsibilities
* Compassionately meet the needs of patients and their carers.
* Assist in the delivery of patient care as directed by the nurse in charge, undertaking duties and activities with limited or indirect supervision.
* Show commitment to and participate in quality‑improvement activities.
* Promote at all times a positive image of people with mental ill‑health.

Qualifications & Requirements
* Completed the Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent.
* Literacy and Numeracy Level 2 or equivalent.
* Will complete the Trust Healthcare Assistant competencies within probationary period (first 6 months).
* If you do not have the required qualifications, you will be expected to enrol on the Healthcare Assistant Framework, which includes acquiring Level 2 Diploma Health and Social Care, Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy (or equivalent) and achieving competencies – a maximum of 2 years to complete.
* Right to work in the UK.
* Only Health and Care Worker or Skilled Worker visa sponsorship available (subject to eligibility). The role does not meet criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa.
Additional Information
* Post requires DBS check; subscription to DBS Update Service is required and will be reimbursed by the Trust.
* Trust welcome day is scheduled on a monthly basis; if the date is not possible, attendance within 4 weeks of start date will be required.
