Job overview
The North London Forensic Service has an exciting position available for an enthusiastic and motivated consultant forensic psychiatrist to join the existing substantive team within the Specialist Community Forensic Team (SCFT). The successful applicant will be part of a team of consultant forensic psychiatrists within the North London Forensic Service, a large and successful service with its secure care services rated outstanding by the CQC. The SCFT covers the London boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield, and Haringey, providing assertive pre-discharge and high-level community after-care for patients discharged from secure care. The successful candidate will lead this team in delivering high-quality patient care.
Main duties of the job
Join a team of 28 Consultant Forensic Psychiatrists, with responsibilities including providing leadership to the SCFT and acting as the responsible clinician for up to 45 community unrestricted patients discharged from secure care.

Person specification
Application
* Full GMC registration
* On the Specialist Register or eligible within six months
* CCT in Forensic Psychiatry or general Adult Psychiatry with relevant experience
* Membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent
* Approved under Section 12 (2) of the 1983 Mental Health Act and approved Clinician status
* Experience in acute and community psychiatric settings
* Membership of a professional indemnity organization
* Engagement with annual appraisal
* Experience in multidisciplinary teaching
* Leadership skills in multidisciplinary teams
* Excellent communication skills
* Team player with an approachable attitude
* Willing to represent the service externally
* Ability to build relationships with agencies
* Willingness to use own car occasionally, with expenses covered
* Experience in mental health in reach prison settings
* Publications in Psychiatry
* Management skills and training
* Experience working with diverse cultural backgrounds
* Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
