Salary £33,468 – £34,399 per year.
Role Overview
Experienced Housing Officer needed for Sustainable Housing on Release for Everyone (SHORE) team within Central Homelessness Team.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver a wide range of housing services to customers, including understanding of homelessness legislation, allocations, estate management, rent recovery and anti‑social behaviour.
* Provide face‑to‑face housing options advice to prisoners at HMP Barlinnie and HMP Addiewell, ensuring tenancy sustainment where possible or developing housing plans to prevent homelessness.
* Undergo required prison and personal protection training.
* Ensure compliance with policy and procedures, monitor and audit casework, and process complaints according to procedure and standards.
* Use IT skills to organise and prioritise workload effectively and adapt to changing priorities.
* Communicate and network with key partners, prisoners, and telephone contacts, liaising with service users, public bodies and third sector agencies.
Qualifications & Experience
* Experience working in a housing related environment with knowledge of homelessness legislation and practice.
* Experience working in a prison or criminal justice environment is desirable.
* Experience with policies and procedures, casework monitoring and auditing.
* Excellent IT skills, organisational and prioritisation ability.
* Strong communication skills and ability to liaise with various stakeholders.
Legislative and Disclosure Requirements
This post is excepted in terms of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Scotland Act 2020 and is considered a Regulated Role with Adults under the Disclosure Scotland Act 2020. Applicants barred from working with adults cannot apply.
Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Update check prior to formal offer.
An Overseas Criminal Records Check is required for applicants born outside the UK or who have lived or worked outside the UK continuously for three months in the last ten years. The check must be translated into English and include an official statement confirming no history of or pending criminal record proceedings.
