Our dedicated team is looking for motivated Maternity Support Workers who are either currently working at band 3 level or aspire to undertake the necessary training to enhance existing skills.
We have vacancies within our core and community teams.
We believe that ongoing training, support, and a positive and friendly culture are vital for our teams and will enable them to provide the best possible care for pregnant and newly delivered women and their families.
The Band 3 Maternity Support Worker (MSW) provides direct clinical care to women and babies accessing maternity services. They may be based within specialist and integrated teams such as in theatre and community hubs.
Band 3 MSWs may serve as a point of contact/support for women and their families, providing clinical, physical, psychological, and emotional care and support. They offer appropriate information and, where necessary, signpost to wider support organizations. You will report to registered practitioners when planned, delegated care has been provided, to deliver high-quality, safe antenatal and postnatal care.
Responsibilities include working as part of a multidisciplinary team in a professional and sympathetic manner under supervision, attending to the physical needs of women and babies (e.g., personal hygiene, supporting daily care), observing women and babies, and reporting concerns to the responsible midwife. Safeguarding women and babies and notifying the midwife of any situations is also essential.
There's never been a more exciting time to join TeamQEH. We're working on a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build a new state-of-the-art hospital and are undertaking significant digital transformation, including the implementation of a new electronic patient record (EPR) system from 2026, which will improve patient care safety and coordination.
At The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, we provide a comprehensive range of specialist, acute, obstetrics, and community-based services to around 331,000 people across west and north Norfolk, North Cambs, and South Lincs.
We are an ambitious organization that upholds values of kindness, wellness, and fairness. We strive for continuous quality improvement, as demonstrated by our 2024 CQC maternity inspection rating of 'Good'. We are also a place to learn and grow, offering recognized learning opportunities and apprenticeships.
We value and reward our 4,000 staff and volunteers, fostering a community atmosphere and positive team spirit. Our facilities include approximately 530 beds across 33 wards, modern award-winning centers, and dedicated education and training facilities, all supported by a talented team ready to welcome you.
