We help our clients safeguard the water supply, improve environmental performance and manage demand for future generations. This role will be within our Demand management and network infrastructure team. We look after 60 million meters and our teams provide advanced metering solutions to help manage demand for essential suppliers.

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised DMO Delivery Manager to lead our domestic water metering program, overseeing the installation of thousands of new meters to residential properties each year as Yorkshire Water move form an internal to an “external fit first” programme. The DMO Delivery Manager will lead an operational and planning team to deliver the installation of thousands of external and internal water meters with SLA to avoid GSS penalties. This role requires exceptional organisational skills, a strong focus on health and safety, and an unwavering commitment to outstanding customer service, which is critical in a regulatory environment. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in managing large-scale utility installation programs and leading field-based teams.
You will lead the recruitment and training of domestic water meter installation crews helping to establish an internal training programme. The role will require a strategic approach balancing technical skills with an passion for exceptional customer service and a commitment to the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project leadership and delivery: Manage the end-to-end process of the domestic metering program, from initial planning and scheduling to installation, commissioning, and performance reporting.
Health and safety: Drive and maintain a robust health and safety culture within your team and among subcontractors. Conduct regular site audits, investigate incidents, and ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health, safety, welfare, and environmental regulations.
Customer service excellence: Champion a customer-centric approach, ensuring all installation work is completed with minimal disruption and industry leading customer interaction. Ensure all administrational and operational process always put a world class customer experience at the forefront of our focus.
Team and resource management: Lead and manage a team of field supervisors and installation crews, allocating resources efficiently to meet project deadlines and performance targets. Manage subcontractors, ensuring their competence and compliance with company and client standards.
Financial and commercial management: Oversee project work forecasts and review cost and value to ensure the program is delivered efficiently and profitably.
Stakeholder engagement: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, internal teams, and domestic customers. Maintain strong, collaborative relationships to ensure all parties are informed of program progress and aligned with objectives.
Reporting and compliance: Prepare and present regular progress reports covering program performance, safety statistics, customer feedback, and commercial performance for senior management and clients. Ensure all operational delivery meets contractual, company, and regulatory obligations.
What you’ll bring
A minimum of 3-5 years of proven operational management experience, with a significant portion in the utilities or water industry, preferably involving domestic meter installations.
Demonstrable experience in managing large-scale, high-volume field operations involving customer engagement.
Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, including CDM regulations and specific water industry safety protocols.
Strong financial and commercial awareness.
