SEMH Teaching Assistant
Location: Chichester
Salary: £22,000 - £23,000 per annum
We are seeking a committed and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist educational setting in Chichester, supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference and supporting pupils who require consistency, structure, and understanding to thrive.
The Role:
* Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
* Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and differentiated lessons
* Support pupils with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
* Help create a safe, calm, and nurturing learning environment
* Implement behaviour and support plans consistently
* Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs (desirable)
* Be patient, resilient, and able to remain calm in challenging situations
* Demonstrate strong communication and relationship-building skills
* Be flexible, proactive, and a positive team player
* Have a genuine commitment to supporting pupil wellbeing and progress
Safeguarding & Compliance:
* A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection is essential
* The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check
