37 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday JOB OVERVIEW We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Senior Highways Development Control Transport Planning Officer with expert knowledge of street design, H&T related Policies and standards and extensive experience in the development planning / management industry. Working as the Senior Highways Development Control Transport Planning Officer you will support and represent the Highways Development Management team associated with the design, planning and delivery of new highways and streets within the Borough. As the Senior Highways Development Control Transport Planning Officer you will also represent the highways and transport service at planning committees and appeal hearings/inquiries. DUTIES Your duties as a Senior Highways Development Control Transport Planning Officer
will include: Advise on the transport implications/highways impacts of pre-application development proposals Assess planning applications including advising and making recommendations on their transportation implications, having regard to Borough policy and to Government policy and advice Advise on Transport Assessments and Travel Plans presented in support of development proposals and carry out transport appraisals of development proposals Provide high-quality and timely responses to planning consultations Review Stage 1 Road Safety Audits and ensure that any road safety issues identified are resolved satisfactorily by the developer / designer Provide assistance and guidance to developers on the Scoping of any TA required, including commissioning and review of strategic transport model outputs from the Boroughs modelling team Carry out site visits to establish how the development will fit into the surrounding highway infrastructure and identify are any potential constraints on the development To negotiate appropriate financial contributions towards transportation services and infrastructure required arising from planning applications Meet with other officers, developers and their agents where appropriate to discuss issues and seek to find solutions to outstanding problems to facilitate the successful outcome of the planning application CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS A level 4 qualification in Civil Engineering or Transport Planning Expert knowledge of street design, with particular focus on the delivery of high-quality streets through the planning process (e.g. 80-200 dwellings) Excellent knowledge of traffic and speed management principles to support the delivery of safe highways for all users Extensive experience analysing or interpreting industry software (such as Junctions 10) BENEFITS Generous annual leave entitlement of 30 days (rising by 5 days after 5 years continued local government service), plus Bank Holidays Excellent local government pension scheme Use of a free onsite gym (located at Shute End office) Salary sacrifice car & cycle to work schemes A range of local & lifestyle discounts An employee assistance programme including 24/7 wellbeing helpline APPLY TODAY By submitting your job application to us you are hereby giving us your express consent to submit your details to our Client for this purpose.
