Medical Secretary/Administration Support

The post holder will work within University Hospitals Bristol and Weston be responsible for providing an efficient and effective secretarial service for clinical teams within specialities across the Trust. The role acts as a point of contact and help to support colleagues and the team.
The role of Medical Secretary involves the pro‑active achievement of all key performance indicators relating to NHS clinical correspondence targets, workload distribution and daily performance monitoring across specialty/specialities. You will provide patients, GP's and clinical staff within the Hospital with high quality clinical outcome information within the Trust's turnaround time. The role is therefore responsible for setting high standards of patient care and displaying qualities of the Trust's values at all times.
Main duties of the job
To liaise with and act as a point of contact for clinical and non‑clinical staff via telephone and email, to act as point of contact for patients, relatives, carers and clinicians. You should be polite, empathetic to patients needs at all times and be able to communicate effectively when dealing with difficult situations and conversations. You will be responsible for your workloads and elevate any capacity problems and general issues to your line manager or relevant clinical staff. You will be responsible for completing clinical correspondence by way of typing, proofreading and correcting where necessary any errors on letters before they are dispatched to patients and GP's, so attention to detail is essential.

Knowledge and Experience

Qualifications and Training
* Educated to GCSE, grade C or above (or equivalent) in English Language and Maths
* Business and Administration Level 3 NVQ or equivalent experience
* Experience with proof reading and a good level of keyboard skills
