The Children's Garden are are looking for enthusiastic and passionate Apprentices to join the team in the baby room, you will have the opportunity to work towards your Level 3 Early Years Educator. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands‑on experience caring for infants, learn from experienced practitioners, and develop your skills in early years care. You'll be part of a passionate team dedicated to providing a nurturing and stimulating environment for our babies and may have the chance to work within the other rooms. You must have the willingness to participate as a member of a team. Effective contributor even when the team is working on something of no direct personal interest.


General Responsibilities

* Able to take direction and support tasks and goals set out by a room leader or qualified member of staff.
* Support at meal times.
* Cleaning all toilet areas, kitchen and play equipment.
* Interacting positively with the children and other people at all times.
* Showing a keen interest in all activities which the children participate in.
* Understand and contribute to each child's Learning Journeys by observations, pictures or stories using all media available to you.


Goal Orientation

Responds well to working toward goals and objectives set by self and others. Takes ownership of personal goals and accepts responsibility for achieving them.

Capacity to understand the impact of own decisions and activities on other parts of the organisation.


Listening Skills

Ability to pick out important information in verbal communications. Questioning and non‑verbal behaviours indicate 'active' listening.

* Display "active" listening skills and positive interaction with parents, children and staff in order that they feel valued and respected.
* Showing an active interest in each child and activities within the setting, asking questions and learning from other members of staff.


Consciousness of Detail

Thorough approach, does not miss relevant information and ensures accurate and reliable information is taken account of and reported as necessary.

* You will adhere and champion compliance with The Children Act, Health & Safety legislation and any guidelines or requirements laid down by OFSTED.
* To ensure all records such as register, accident and related documentation are timely and accurate and kept in a secure location.
* Ability to use your insight to spot children who need extra help and report back to senior staff your findings.


Humour

Ability to contribute to 'fun' culture, not taking self too seriously, outgoing and engaging personality.

* Show that you can contribute to a "fun culture".
* Ability to deliver play and story time in an engaging and joyful way.
* Engage parents and other staff with your positive outlook.


Initiative

Seeks opportunities and acts on them, originates action and actively influences events.

* Ability to feel confident about approaching any member of the team on anything you are not sure about or feel worried about.
* Able to create new ideas contributing to a fun, innovative and stimulating environment that embodies The Children's Garden values.
* Evidence of great relationships with children delivering insights and ideas to your line manager.
* To be creative and colourful with the children and parents.


Energy

Ability to create and maintain a level of effective output, capacity to work hard, drive and stamina.

* Able to display consistent energy levels and go the "extra mile" to ensure the nursery and the children do well.
* Evidence of balance and maturity in your attitude.
* Show that you want to grow and develop within your role and The Children's Garden.


To become an apprentice, you must:

* be 16 or over
* not already be in full‑time education


As an apprentice you'll:

* complete a Early Years Educator apprenticeship standard
* have regular one to one sessions with a dedicated trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace
* learn and train for a specific job
* get paid and receive holiday leave
* get experience in a real job
* study for at least 20% of your working hours
* complete assessments during and at the end of your apprenticeship
* be on a career path with lots of future potential
