Overview
Aberdeen City Council is seeking a Vehicle Technician/Automotive Vehicle Mechanic for Fleet workshops and depots. This is a permanent, full-time role with a 35-hour week.

Fleet Service, Kittybrewster Depot, Aberdeen
Contract
Permanent, Full Time, 35 hours per week
Schedule
Weekly rota pattern:
* Week 1: Monday – Thursday 6:00 – 14:00, Friday 6:00 – 11:30
* Week 2: Monday – Thursday 14:00 – 22:00, Friday 11:30 – 17:00
PVG Membership
Roles that require PVG membership: candidates will meet the cost of PVG membership if the role has a full-time equivalent salary of £30,000 or above. The Council will initially pay the PVG cost (up to 59 for non-members or 18 for existing members) and this cost will be deducted from the first full months salary.
Job Purpose
The post holder will inspect, maintain, and repair vehicles, plant, and equipment within Aberdeen City Council Fleet workshops and depots. The role requires the ability to work on own initiative and to communicate effectively with the management team and customers.
Requirements
* City and Guilds Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance (9302) or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering
* Full UK Driving Licence
* Preferably hold a Category C (HGV) Licence and relevant CPC or to be obtained
The Post Holder Will Be Expected To
* Join the out-of-hours on-call breakdown rota
* Work outdoors in all weathers
* Occasionally work outside contractual/normal hours
