The site specialises in recycling, production, and advanced automation, and the Facilities Maintenance Department plays a vital role in supporting all areas of the operation, including production, moulding, and automated systems.
About the Role
As a Facilities Maintenance Engineer, you will provide both electrical and mechanical support across the site, working closely with multiple departments. Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out electrical installation work.
Performing mechanical maintenance and installation in line with the organisation's Safe Systems of Work and isolation procedures.
Overseeing general facility maintenance and service improvements, including sourcing and supervising external contractors on a range of projects.
Working to a planned maintenance schedule while remaining flexible in supporting day‑to‑day production and moulding operations.
Making minor adjustments to PLC programmes (basic understanding required).
Contributing to energy‑saving initiatives and continuous efficiency improvements.
Supporting TPM activities and responding to production breakdowns, including maintenance of automation equipment.
What You'll Need to Succeed
A proactive approach to developing your technical knowledge and personal skills.
Strong problem‑solving abilities and creativity, with the capability to design, assess, and implement improvements across electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing repairs, refurbishments, and operational improvements in line with health and safety standards.
Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
A commitment to taking ownership of tasks and working safely at all times.
About You
HND (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Ideally qualified to 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
Experience or knowledge of small‑scale building services projects (e.g., plumbing, heating, boiler systems) is advantageous.
