Learning Support Assistant, 25 hours per week, Temporary, Term Time Only
The primary purpose of this post is to support learners with additional support needs as an effective member of the Learning Support Team.
Principle Accountabilities
1. Ensure learners with additional support needs are effectively supported in learning activities in the College and/or community, maintaining high standards of record-keeping.
2. Communicate effectively with individual learners to clarify additional support arrangements before learning activities commence.
3. Use a range of strategies to help each learner become more independent in the classroom, workshop, learning centre, College, and community.
4. Assist with personal care needs according to individual learner requirements, including:
5. Administration of medication following college procedures and training.
6. Other personal care support such as toileting, changing, bathing, and lifting with specialist equipment, following appropriate training.
7. Communicate effectively with teaching staff to clarify support arrangements prior to activities.
8. Assist in preparing, modifying, and developing learning materials for individual learners.
9. Maintain confidentiality of learner information in line with College policies.
10. Provide individual support to enable learners to participate in social, recreational, leisure, sports, and voluntary activities.
11. Contribute to the development of the Learning Support Service, collaborating with team members to deliver high standards of service within the College, schools, external agencies, and the community.
12. Be familiar with health and safety legislation related to employer and employee responsibilities.
13. Comply with all College Policies and Procedures, especially those related to Finance, Personnel, Health and Safety, and Equal Opportunities.
14. Perform other duties appropriate to the grade of the post as required by the Principal & Chief Executive.
