Accounts Payable Clerk - Food Manufacturing
We are currently seeking a tenacious and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our Nuneaton-based finance team and contribute to the smooth management of accounts payable.
The Person:
The ideal candidate will have a strong mix of technical accounting skills, organizational abilities, and a problem-solving mindset. They will thrive in a fast-paced environment and constantly seek to improve processes while ensuring accuracy in financial transactions.
The Role:
This person will be responsible for processing invoices, verifying financial data, and maintaining accurate financial records to ensure payments are completed on time. They will also interact with vendors, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Additionally, the Accounts Payable Clerk will assist in reconciling statements, preparing financial reports, processing company expenses, and handling credit card transactions.
Responsibilities:
1. Process and review invoices, ensuring accuracy and proper approvals before payment.
2. Match invoices with purchase orders and receipts to verify transaction legitimacy.
3. Enter invoices into the accounting system and ensure timely processing of payments. Reconcile accounts payable transactions and resolve discrepancies.
4. Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for auditing purposes.
5. Communicate effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders to address invoice queries and payment issues.
6. Process company expenses and credit card transactions, ensuring proper documentation and approvals.
7. Prepare and process weekly payment runs via electronic transfer.
8. Assist in month-end closing activities, including accruals and reconciliations.
9. Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
10. Support the finance team with ad hoc tasks and reports as needed.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Clerk or similar role.
2. Minimum 2 years' experience in an AP environment.
3. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
4. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
5. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
6. Ability to work independently and in a team.
7. Familiarity with general accounting principles and financial reporting.
