We are pleased to offer an exciting opportunity to join our respected Site Team as a Site Maintenance Apprentice. This apprenticeship is specifically aimed at someone who already has practical experience in building construction, or maintenance and is looking to further develop their skills and gain a recognised qualification within a supportive educational environment.
This is an ideal role for someone who may have:
* previously worked on a construction site,
* undertaken hands-on maintenance or trade work, or
* started a qualification in building services, plumbing, carpentry, electrical installation or facilities management.
You will work alongside our experienced site team and Site Manager, contributing to the maintenance and smooth operation of a large and busy school.
About the Role
As a Site Maintenance Apprentice, you will play an important role in supporting the upkeep, safety and functionality of the school’s buildings and grounds. You will use your existing practical experience whilst continuing to learn new skills and techniques.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Supporting general site maintenance including: repairs, basic carpentry, painting and minor plumbing tasks.
* Assisting with planned preventative maintenance and essential compliance checks (e.g., fire alarms, legionella flushing, emergency lighting).
* Helping to diagnose and resolve maintenance issues across the site.
* Supporting the setup of teaching spaces, events and school activities, including the movement and assembly of equipment and furniture.
* Contributing to the safe operation and appearance of the school buildings, workshops and outdoor areas.
* Assisting with deliveries, waste management, stock control and general site organisation.
* Maintaining accurate logs and records in line with health & safety and facilities compliance requirements.
* Learning and developing further competence in building maintenance, health & safety and facilities management systems.
This apprenticeship offers structured development, whilst enabling you to apply your existing skills from day one.

About You
We are looking for someone who has:
o Previous hands-on experience in a building, construction or maintenance environment. (e.g. labouring, property maintenance, trade work, building services or similar)
o A practical, problem-solving approach and a strong awareness of safety.
o A positive attitude and a willingness to learn advanced maintenance and compliance skills.
o Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
o Physical capability to undertake manual handling and practical tasks.
o High standards of professionalism, reliability and integrity.
o You may already have started a qualification in a related trade or building field, but this is not essential.
