Position Description
Position Summary
Union Cafe employees will perform guest service and food preparation duties. The Union opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes 11:00 p.m. (midnight on weekends). The Union Cafe is busiest during the dinner hours and throughout the weekend. Employees are expected to work during at least one of our critical times (lunch, late night, or weekends).
Qualifications
Experience
* Food service, catering, or retail background is helpful but not required.
Skills, Characteristics Required for Position
* Employees should have a positive attitude, be self-motivated, flexible and able to take direction.
* Employees should also be able to work well with others, to work independently of supervision and have excellent customer service and communication skills.
Dress Code
Uniform: jeans, black shirt, closed toe shoes with socks, and hat with name-tag on it. If your hair is long enough to touch your shoulders, it must be tied back. If your ears are pierced, you may wear only studs. No sweatpants, shorts, capris, open toe or heeled shoes (e.g. sandals, flip flops, or ballet flats), hoops/dangling earrings, facial piercing, necklaces, bracelets, or other jewelry.
Special Working Conditions
Must be able to lift 30 lbs using proper lifting technique. Must be able to perform all essential job functions, which require prolonged standing, pushing, pulling, lifting and walking on hard surfaces.

Primary Duties
1. Provide quality food and service to all customers.
2. Assist management team in stocking, cleaning, and food preparation.
3. Interact with customers and other team members with a friendly and welcoming attitude.
4. Keep all stations/areas stocked and clean.
5. Aid coworkers at other stations as much as possible if your station/area is slow.
6. Maintain consistent & reliable attendance.
Secondary Duties
1. Cleaning equipment and facilities as directed.
2. Other duties as assigned.
