Parachute Packer

We're recruiting a Parachute Packer for a globally recognised aerospace manufacturer in Denham. You'll be packing and inspecting parachutes and drogues for aviation safety systems used in fighter jets - precision work in a safety-critical environment where attention to detail is essential.
What you'll be doing:
Packing parachutes and drogues in accordance with technical specifications and manuals
Drawing parts from stores and recording batch numbers and completion of history sheets
Inspecting parachutes for flaws and noting on history sheets
Preparing parachutes for loading into presses
Operating presses to compress parachutes and drogues to specifications
Carrying out self-inspection and peer inspection to company standards
Surveying and repacking parachutes for the MRO business as required
Working with development programmes on prototypes and test pieces
Ensuring efficient utilisation of presses and equipment
Maintaining tools and equipment, reporting any defects
Following all H&S regulations including risk assessments and safe systems of work
What you need:
Engineering or manufacturing background
Good working knowledge of reading engineering drawings and specifications
Basic understanding of H&S policies and procedures
Basic IT skills
Excellent attention to detail and manual dexterity
Ability to work carefully and precisely
GCSE Maths and English (grades D-G or equivalent)
Parachute packing experience is desirable but not essential - full training will be provided. A mechanical engineering apprenticeship is highly desirable.

Days-based: 08:00-17:00 Mon-Thu / 08:00-12:00 Fri
