About the Role

We’re looking for a Deputy Manager to help oversee two ‑bed homes in Barnsley. Working alongside the Registered Manager, you’ll support the day‑to‑day operations, ensuring high‑quality care and that each young person’s rights, wellbeing, and individual needs are met.
You’ll guide and support the staff team, maintaining strong safeguarding practice and meeting all regulatory standards. Your leadership will directly contribute to positive outcomes for young people and uphold Dove’s values and commitment to excellent care.
Role Overview
As Dual Deputy Manager, you'll support the Registered Manager across both homes by:
7. Ensuring high‑quality care that meets legislative, safeguarding, Ofsted SCCIF, and organisational standards
8. Promoting each young person’s rights, wellbeing, and individual needs
9. Leading, guiding, and supporting staff to maintain excellent practice
10. Overseeing records, documentation, monitoring systems, and quality assurance
11. Supporting daily operations, decision‑making, and service improvements
12. Maintaining Health & Safety compliance and ensuring staff training is up to date
13. Assisting with rotas, inductions, supervision, appraisals, and staff development
14. Supporting safer recruitment and HR processes (grievances, complaints, disciplinaries)
15. Contributing to budget monitoring, financial controls, and resource management
16. Ensuring both homes are safe, well maintained, and fully compliant
17. Building strong relationships with external agencies, commissioners, and partners
18. Assisting with placements and admissions when required
19. Participating in the on‑call rota and covering sleep‑ins as needed
Required Attributes

21. Team leadership or management experience
22. Strong safeguarding and child‑protection knowledge
23. Level Children & Young People qualification (minimum)
24. Level Leadership & Management (or willingness to complete)
25. Understanding of vulnerable young people’s needs
26. Safe working practice and strong professional boundaries
27. Excellent relationship‑building skills
28. Emotional resilience and ability to maintain confidentiality
29. Commitment to equality and anti‑discriminatory practice
30. Full UK driving licence and access to transport
31. Flexible, reliable, and able to support service development
