Main Purpose:
Provide a safe environment for the movement of prisoners within the court building ensuring their welfare.
Main responsibilities:
* Primarily responsible for the high standards of safety and welfare of Prisoners in their care, especially those identified as vulnerable or with other special needs
* Carry out Custody Area opening and closing checks, and general security checks throughout the day
* Escort Prisoners to and from vehicles and Custody Areas in a safe and secure manner
* Search Prisoners and cells to ensure that security and safety are maintained
* Identify and deal with Prisoners to reduce risks to safety and security, and to maintain good order and discipline
* Accurate collation of relevant documentation in relation to all Prisoners
* Escort Prisoners to and from the Court in a safe and secure manner
* Carry out the duties of a dock officer
* Provide Prisoners with refreshments in line with requirements
* Help supervise official visits to Prisoners as required
* Carry out cell patrols to ensure that safety and security are maintained
* Observe Prisoners in cells within the Custody Area at the designated Court
