Senior Casualty Underwriter – UK and International Business

We are seeking a Senior Casualty Underwriter to join a respected international insurance group, with a focus on UK and international business. This role offers the opportunity to underwrite a diverse portfolio of casualty risks, working with brokers and clients across a range of industry sectors while maintaining a strong emphasis on technical underwriting and profitable growth.
You will be responsible for underwriting and pricing mid-market to large corporate casualty accounts, assessing risk, negotiating coverage and terms, and ensuring business is written in line with underwriting appetite, regulatory requirements, and profitability objectives. The role will involve managing both new and existing business, while building and maintaining strong broker relationships across your portfolio.
As a key point of contact for brokers, clients, and internal stakeholders, you will play an important role in developing long-term trading relationships and identifying opportunities to grow the portfolio. You’ll also work closely with claims, actuarial, and portfolio management teams to support effective underwriting decisions and deliver strong customer outcomes.
In addition to your underwriting responsibilities, you will support the Head of Casualty, contribute to portfolio strategy, assist with the development of junior team members, and help maintain high standards around underwriting governance, data quality, and portfolio management. You will also keep abreast of market developments, emerging risks, and industry trends to help shape underwriting strategy.
We are keen to speak with experienced Casualty Underwriters who have a strong technical understanding of liability products, risk assessment, policy wordings, and pricing. The successful candidate will combine sound underwriting judgement with commercial awareness, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to manage a varied portfolio of business in a fast-paced environment.
