Amazon seeks a Senior Operations Manager to join our Japan Amazon Logistics team. The goal of Amazon Logistics (AMZL) is to build a world-class last mile operation delivering to customers. Amazon aims to exceed customer expectations by ensuring orders are delivered quickly, accurately, and cost-effectively, with rapid expansion in Japan.
Key job responsibilities
Senior Operations Managers in AMZL are responsible for budget, people development, and operational objectives at an Amazon Logistics Delivery Station (DS). Responsibilities include managing and leading a team of Operations and Area Managers, coaching and mentoring to meet performance goals, fostering positive employee relations, and building leadership capacity within the DS.
Responsibilities
* Ensure safety, quality, performance, customer experience, and people development across all delivery station operations.
* Drive vision for the station team, including quality initiatives, process improvements, and lean initiatives to meet and exceed business goals.
* Identify and address gaps between current performance and targets.
* Set clear expectations for Operations and Area Managers, monitor performance, provide feedback, and hold managers accountable.
* Manage daily operations concerning Amazon order deliveries, operating 24/7 amidst increasing volume and complexity.
* Maintain relationships with Delivery Service Providers (DSPs).
* Present operational metrics to senior leadership regularly.
* Hire and develop top talent, including talent acquisition, performance management, learning, succession planning, and engagement.
* Leverage operational teams to generate and implement improvement ideas.
* Cultivate a strong, engaged culture within the delivery station.
* Share best practices across departments and shifts.
* Collaborate with key partners such as Transport & Sortation, DSP Management, Finance, Loss Prevention, IT, HR, and Engineering to support projects and initiatives.

Minimum qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
* 10+ years of operations experience (supply chain, logistics, transportation, manufacturing, retail, etc.)
* Experience managing a team of 10+ people and developing talent
* Business-level English proficiency
Preferred qualifications
* Extensive operations experience in a fast-growing industry
* 15+ years of operations experience
* Experience leading rapid expansion plans
* Proven track record of delivering multiple programs on time
* Excellent communication skills
* Business-level Japanese proficiency
* Enthusiasm for working in a diverse and inclusive environment
