Position Overview: The Risk Analyst at ASEL plays a key role in supporting the Risk Advisory Practice through the management, development, and ongoing enhancement of ASEL’s proprietary risk models and internal risk analysis frameworks. This position combines analytical precision, data engineering, and strategic research to inform ASEL’s approach to both external customer risk modelling and internal enterprise risk. The role involves maintaining live model data, developing new risk methodologies, and creating intelligent datasets that underpin decision-making across the organisation. The Risk Analyst’s findings and recommendations will inform ASEL’s strategic planning, commercial resilience, and product innovation – contributing directly to the company’s growth and reputation as a data-led risk intelligence leader. Occasionally, the Risk Analyst will also present model findings, insights, or methodology updates to clients, requiring strong communication skills and the ability to explain analytical outcomes clearly and professionally. Responsibilities & Requirements Risk Model Management Maintain and update live data sources within ASEL’s risk engine, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and timeliness of inputs. Support model calibration, scenario testing, and validation processes Research and source risk drivers and variables to enhance ASEL’s predictive risk methodologies. Document model assumptions, changes, and version controls to maintain full transparency and traceability. Internal Risk Analysis Contribute to ASEL’s Internal Risk Framework by supporting the development of analytical tools and datasets that track key enterprise risks, including financial, operational, and transformation-related exposures. Conduct data-led investigations into internal performance trends, identifying areas of potential risk or inefficiency. Collaborate with Finance and Operations to support analysis of contract and project profitability, helping to identify potential commercial risks. Data Collection & Research Undertake web scraping and data collection projects to build databases of open-source intelligence, such as: Pay and market data fr benchmarking analysis Lcation-based crime or security intelligence Industry and cmpetitor insights to inform risk strategies Research critical literature and academic sources to ensure ASEL’s methodologies reflect the latest frameworks and best practices in risk management. Conduct structured research on external strategic change projects to identify insights that support both internal learning and marketing collateral. Reporting & Communication Produce comprehensive reports and dashboards that translate complex analysis into actionable recommendations. Present findings in clear, professional formats suitable for internal and client-facing audiences. On occasion, support client meetings or presentations by explaining model outputs, methodologies, or findings in an accessible manner. Collaborate to ensure insights are communicated effectively to executive stakeholders and used to inform business strategy. Essential Qualifications, Experience & Person Specification Education: Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Risk Management, or a related discipline. Experience: Experience in data analysis, statistical modelling, or research within a business or risk-related environment. Proven ability to collect, clean, and manage complex datasets using analytical tools (e.g. Python, R, Excel, SQL). Exposure to risk analysis, business intelligence, or financial modelling preferred. Experience in sourcing and synthesising open-source or external data for strategic analysis. Skills And Competencies Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills with the ability to identify trends and draw conclusions from large datasets. Technical Proficiency: Skilled in data manipulation, database management, and the use of data visualisation tools. Research Capability: Able to conduct structured research using academic, open-source, and market data. Attention to Detail: High accuracy and precision in handling data and producing outputs. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of presenting insights to both technical and non-technical audiences. Commercial Awareness: Understanding of how analytical insights support profitability, efficiency, and decision-making. Collaboration: Works effectively within cross-functional teams, contributing to a culture of shared learning and problem-solving.
