Job Description
Brightpoint Community College is a two-year public institution of higher education and is the third largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges. The college is located within the Greater Richmond metropolitan area. It serves students and the community at its two campuses, in Chester and Midlothian; online; and in locations throughout its service area. Provides administrative support to the dean of students (DOS), associate dean of students, director of student assistance and intervention services and student accessibility services team. Manages Maxient technical support and creates and sends Maxient letters for all case types (threat assessment, Title IX, judicial affairs, academic dishonesty, academic status committee and others), tracks Maxient cases for appeal deadlines and follow-up, handles exceptions to the tuition refund policy and requests for debt forgiveness, assists with following up with students who complete the Single Stop Screener, assists with updating resources in Single Stop, serves on the Care Team, and assists with managing cases, works with various offices to ensure policies are posted and websites owned by the DOS office are updated, makes changes to the catalog and student handbook, provides preliminary review of academic dishonesty cases in Maxient to ensure that supportive documentation is available and contacts faculty for documentation, assists with purchasing, travel, renewing professional memberships and registering staff for training opportunities, replies to various student concerns that come in via phone, email or walk-in and completes other duties assigned by the dean of students and the associate dean of students. Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications Knowledge of Maxient, Microsoft Office, People Soft, and Navigate required. Must have excellent communication skills, computer and customer service skills, and be able to work in a diverse and often stressful environment. Applicants must also have the ability to work a flexible schedule at either the Chester or Midlothian campuses and have the ability to maintain confidentiality in handling both student and employee cases. Successful completion and passing of a background check is required for employment.
*All full-time classified employees new to the Commonwealth of Virginia will serve a 12-month probationary period. Additional Considerations Experience working with students. Proficiency in the use of eVA and PeopleSoft. Experience working in higher education.
