Salary up to £65,000 DOE and relocation allowance up to £2,000
Kernow Vets are looking for a confident Farm Veterinary Surgeon to join our welcoming and supportive team. We’re proud to work closely with the farming community, providing reliable, sustainable veterinary care that supports both livestock health and the long-term success of our clients’ businesses. This is a role where strong relationships and trust are just as important as clinical expertise.
The caseload offers excellent variety, with your week including TB testing, routine and preventative work, herd health planning, emergency care and dispensary work, alongside regular client interaction. Artificial insemination, primarily in cattle, also forms part of the role. Our clients range from smallholdings to large commercial farms, mainly beef and sheep, with some dairy, pigs and the occasional alpaca, giving a diverse and rewarding workload.
This is predominantly an ambulatory role, so a full driving licence is essential. You’ll be fully equipped with a vehicle, mobile phone and laptop, along with the tools you need to work confidently in the field. While most work is carried out on‑farm, you’ll also have access to practice facilities when required.
We’re looking for someone confident in sole charge, including participation in an on‑call rota, managing both routine visits and emergency work. A TB testing qualification is essential. In return, you’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative team where communication is open and work‑life balance is genuinely respected, with time off in lieu provided to keep workloads fair.
You’ll be joining an experienced farm team made up of seven vets, a dedicated TB testing team, ACA, vet tech and a supportive client care team, all working together to deliver a high standard of care while supporting one another day to day.
As a Primary Care Veterinary Surgeon, you’ll work collaboratively with the wider practice team to deliver a high standard of patient and client care across a varied and rewarding caseload.
You’ll continue to develop your clinical skills and interests while sharing your knowledge and experience with colleagues, contributing positively to the clinical culture of the practice. You’ll be an integral member of the clinical team, delivering excellent care and supporting the ongoing development of those around you.
