We want someone who will fully support our staff in their innovative approaches to learning and who is keen to engage with our students. The role involves working across the subjects of art, dance, drama and music. Fred Longworth High School is committed to going against the trend of the declining provision of arts in schools. We believe that the arts form a crucial part of education for young people and we see the evidence each day of how subjects like art, dance, drama and music help children to achieve in all aspects of their lives. We are passionate advocates for the arts and even made a short film, funded by the Arts Council, about the importance of the arts in secondary schools, which can be seen on YouTube. We are well known for the very high standard of our dance, drama and music productions along with our excellent art exhibitions. Our work is often supported and enhanced by partnerships with professional venues and arts organisations through which we are able to provide some exceptional opportunities for our students. This has included, for example, performances at Royal Albert Hall, The Lowry and the Royal Exchange Theatre. The Arts Technician role is crucial in helping us to develop and maintain these partnerships in order to provide the very best creative education for our students along with excellent provision outside of the classroom. Our facilities across the faculty are excellent include an art maker space, darkroom, well-equipped theatre, music production suites and dance studio.
