We are currently recruiting Senior Civil Design Engineers (Water) with experience in wastewater and/or clean water networks for a range of major long‑term water industry frameworks across the UK.
In addition to a range of programmes, RPS and Tetra Tech have secured a £100 m single‑award framework from United Utilities to improve river health in the Northwest of England. RPS has worked with United Utilities for over 20 years and is now driving program optimisation, solution development and value‑based selection over a 10‑year period.
About The Team
RPS Water Consulting is a team of engineers, modellers and data analysts providing asset management and operational strategy development to water industry clients, supporting business planning and delivery.
About You
As a key member of the Water Consultancy business, you will help deliver capital delivery projects alongside a multidisciplinary team of water project experts, focusing on wastewater infrastructure.
Your Responsibilities
* Support the Principal Engineer in managing projects and preparing conceptual, schematic, and detailed design of water and wastewater infrastructure assets including treatment works, pumping stations, sewers, and pumping mains.
* Interact with clients to understand their needs and preferences.
* Create outline and detailed design drawings and associated construction‑ready documentation.
* Contribute to feasibility‑level designs and optioneering assessments.
* Generate concise design calculations, reports, drawings and other deliverables.
* Collaborate with contractors, supply chain and project stakeholders.
* Mentor and support the professional development of junior team members.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* Proficiency in technical design across multiple disciplines within project environments.
* Strong motivation, influencing and people‑management skills.
* Good knowledge of relevant British Standards, UK industry codes of practice and water specifications.
Qualifications
* Preferably a degree in Civil Engineering or a relevant technical subject; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.
* Chartered or working towards chartership.
* Affiliation with IET, InstMC, CIWEM or similar professional institution, or in the process of applying.
