Job Title: Construction Safety ManagerLocation: Stevenage, SG1 2NYSalary: Up to £100,000 per annum plus bonus and company carRole OverviewA major construction programme is being delivered at a large research and development campus in Stevenage as part of a wider estate transformation strategy. The programme includes refit, restacking and enabling works across multiple buildings and will be delivered over a 3–5 year period.The Construction Safety Manager (CSM) forms part of the Construction Technical Authority (CTA) and plays a key role in ensuring that construction projects are delivered safely, in compliance with organisational standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.The role provides construction safety oversight, coordination and technical guidance across all project phases, working closely with internal teams, contractors and consultants to ensure safe and compliant delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesConstruction Safety OversightMonitor contractor compliance with EHS requirements through meetings, audits and inspections.Review and oversee Permit to Work (PTW) processes and site safety arrangements.Implement site-specific safety rules and contractor safety oversight plans.Planning & Design SupportSupport constructability reviews and provide input into construction execution strategies.Identify potential safety or construction risks early in the project lifecycle.Provide input on permitting, regulatory requirements and safety planning.Procurement & Contractor ManagementContribute to procurement strategies ensuring safety requirements are embedded in contracts.Support contractor prequalification and evaluate contractor EHS systems and safety performance.Participate in bid evaluations and post-project reviews.EHS PlanningSupport development and review of preliminary Construction Safety Plans.Define EHS responsibility boundaries across project stakeholders.Coordinate pre-construction EHS information with design teams.Incident ManagementSupport or lead incident investigations and root cause analysis where required.Track corrective actions and promote continuous safety improvement.Project Close-OutSupport safe handover of completed works.Ensure appropriate documentation and transfer of EHS responsibilities.Person SpecificationEducationDegree (or equivalent) in Construction Management, Engineering, or Construction EHS.ExperienceExperience managing safety on large-scale construction projects.Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations and industry standards.Experience working with multiple contractors in complex project environments.Background in audits, inspections and incident investigations.SkillsStrong communication and stakeholder management skills.Ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams.Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.Why Sodexo?:Working with Sodexo is more than a job; it's a chance to be part of something greater.Belongin a company and team that values you for you.
