The post holder will join a friendly and supportive directorate and will help to provide a wide range of both anaesthetic and critical care services, as well as enjoying the opportunity to pursue special interests outside of their clinical work. The directorate currently provides anaesthetic services in Worcester, Redditch and Kidderminster. All successful candidates will be allocated educational supervision from the department and if a CT3 (Stage 1 top up) equivalent post is required by the successful candidate, this will be fully supported by the college tutors and training supervisors. Solo lists will be allocated according to previous experience of the post-holder and will be mentored by a consultant anaesthetist in the theatre complex.
Main duties of the job
Daytime work will largely be spent working on a range of both solo and consultant-led theatre lists as well as in other areas such as critical care, obstetrics and preoperative assessment. Speciality lists include general surgery, vascular, urology, trauma & orthopaedics, head & neck and gynaecology. These clinical sessions, along with the busy maternity and critical care units, and the Trusts extensive pain services, provide opportunities to achieve the necessary capabilities for CT3 equivalent training, if desired, or to facilitate other agreed personal development goals.
Out of hours responsibilities will rotate around both Worcester and Redditch. At both the Alexandra Hospital & Worcestershire Royal Hospital the out of hours resident staff cover is based on a 1 in 8 frequency request rota including prospective cover.
Duty Periods:
